Challenge
Grasim Industries, an Aditya Birla Group flagship, runs large-scale viscose staple fibre and yarn production. Yarn cone quality depends on tight control over winding tension, contamination, and cone geometry — defects caught late mean entire batches rejected by downstream customers. Meanwhile, doff cards — paper records tracking each production run — were being transcribed manually into ERP systems, creating bottlenecks and data entry errors.
Solution
Our vision system performs continuous visual inspection on the winding line. Cameras capture every cone as it’s produced, and it flags winding faults (ribboning, stitching, overthrow), surface contamination, and dimensional irregularities — all without stopping the line.
Dodo scans doff cards at the point of production. Operators place the card under a camera, and Longlichi — the document model behind Dodo — extracts all fields — batch number, machine ID, operator, weight, grade — and pushes structured data directly into Grasim’s ERP. No typing, no transcription errors.
